Congratulations to our Coventry side who finished joint top of Coventry Division 1. Jeff Harris, Dave Ramsey, Greg Swan and Monika Tomaszek played the bulk of the matches and we owe much to Anthony Smith who ran the team.
In Leamington Division 1 we made the decision to split up our record breaking A side of last season in a bid to retain 3 teams in the top flight. The strategy paid off with all 3 teams notching a top half finish. Our A side of James Berry, Tom Brocklehurst, Greg Swan, Monika Tomaszek and Rex Wong not only finished second but recorded an 8-2 win over title winners St Georges. Our C team finished 4th represented by Chris Blowey, Ricardo Bolanos, Lee Dorning , Owain Jones and Dan Shaw and our B team managed a 6th spot finish through Stefan Birca, Jeff Harris, Harry Purewal, Dave Ramsey and Sam Weaving.
With several of our players playing Division 2 for the first time our priority was to preserve our status in this strong division and this we accomplished. Our D team of Nick Darwen, Sam Groom, Anthony Smith, Susie Swan and Jay Virdi finished 8th and our E side of Radu Draghici, Tobias Eriksson, Chris Jones, Nick Newman and Ankit Sharma came 10th.
In Division 3 our G side finished 6th. Cherry Matthews, Stuart Mills , Chris Roe and Toby Roe were able to blood two youngsters towards the season’s end. Twelve year old Thomas Pinnington won 13 of his 24 singles and Otis Green, an under 15, recorded 7 wins from 8 singles. Our F side were denied the services of their skipper, Chris Bosworth, for virtually the whole season. They finished 10th through Vikram Deshmukh, Bethan Jones, Johan Pretorius and Mark Singleton. Our H team were a place below them in the guise of Phil Booth, Marc Briscoe, Tudor Draghici, Paul Emberson and David Wedgbury.
In the 2 a side League, our J team found themselves promoted to a very strong A division after earning promotion in the Autumn. We told our junior trio of Otis Green, Shivam Gupta and Thomas Pinnington to ENJOY the experience and they did!! They won 4 of their 8 matches and Otis recorded 11 wins from 12 singles.
Our I team of Anay Aroon, Alfie Green and David Wong with occasional help from Jay Virdi snatched the runners-up trophies in Division B.
We provided the Champions in Division C with the M team of David Amos, Matt Hayes and Martin Msara clinching the title in style. Our K side of Keerthi Bakthisaran, Leon Hayward and Manas Krishnan were 5th.
More Champions in Division D as our L team came top through Harry Davenport, Campbell Turner and Stiaan Van Rensburg.
