The Leamington League entered the National Junior Boys Cup, known as the Carter Cup, and selected two youngsters from the Lillington Free Church club to represent the Association.
The matches were staged at the Birmingham Fortis Academy at the weekend and three teams competed in the regional round. Birmingham defeated Walsall 3-2 in the first match with Leamington drawn to face the losing team in the second match. A 4-1 win ensued as Rex Wong beat Jack Whittington and Dominic Evans, Daniel Stone overcame Whittington and the duo grabbed the doubles against Zain Hussein and Evans.
This meant the final match was the decider. Stone lost to Wajid Wafiq but the Leamington pair bounced back to establish a winning 3-1 lead. First, Wong defeated Rhys Fidler 3-0, joined Stone to take the doubles 3-1 against Angus Li and Wafiq and then Stone accounted for Fidler 3-1. Wafiq won the dead rubber to make the final score 3-2 to Leamington.
The side now go through to the Finals.
